I am excited to be teaching first grade and to have the opportunity to see such tremendous growth in my students! I believe in having a positive environment where students can have a comfortable place to learn. I want my students to develop a high self-esteem, so they are allowed to try things that seem hard without the pressure of perfection the first time. First grade is such an exciting time. We will learn so many new things over the course of one year! It is my hope to make learning exciting and fun for everyone in our class. I look forward to getting to know your child and I know we are going to have a great year. I am also looking forward to building a great relationship with you to ensure a successful and enjoyable first grade experience for your child. This year I want your child to fall in love with learning!
Just to let you know a little bit about myself, I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. I taught 1st grade for four years at Bowie ISD in North Texas. I relocated to Austin to be closer to family and taught Kindergarten one year at England. Then, I decided to pursue a passion of travel and teach abroad in Thailand. It was a wonderful experience, where I gained more knowledge in ESL and different cultures. England welcomed me back la few years ago as a 1st grade teacher. This will be my third consecutive year in this classroom. It truly feels like home!
In my free time, you will find me mostly outdoors. I love to explore all of the Austin hikes, bike to Zilker, camp, travel, read and spend time with my friends and family.
I look forward to getting to know you and your family as the school year begins. My goal is for you and I to become partners in your child’s education.
